As part of a day-long visit to Chicago, Comptroller of the Currency John C. Dugan invited NTIC Executive Director Joseph W. Mariano to a luncheon meeting at the OCC’s Midwest regional offices to participate in a dialogue about housing and banking issues affecting neighborhoods today.

Mariano was part of a select group of leaders that included NTIC Board member and NHS of Chicago Executive Director Bruce Gottschall, who told Dugan about the efforts of NHS - in partnership with NTIC - to combat predatory lending through its “Homeowners Preservation Initiative.” On a bus tour showcasing examples such as the Back of the Yards neighborhood, Dugan and Mariano had time to talk about possible next steps that comptroller might take to learn more about what is going on in the neighborhoods and create an ongoing relationship between the OCC, NTIC and its affiliate groups that are focused on housing and banking issues.
